DirecTV is implementing another round of price increases on February 5, 2026, specifically targeting legacy and grandfathered plans. This follows a previous wave of hikes in October 2025 that primarily impacted current subscribers. For those on older tiers, this second jump in four months represents a total monthly increase of over $20 since last summer.
While currently available tiers like Entertainment and Choice are remaining steady for February, legacy subscribers are seeing base rate increases alongside a jump in the mandatory Regional Sports Fee (RSF).
Legacy (Grandfathered) Pricing
The following table reflects the total monthly cost. These figures include the base price and the mandatory Regional Sports Fee. Note that TV Channels and the specific RSF can vary significantly by zip code; these totals use the Savannah market as a real-world example to illustrate the total monthly impact. All figures are rounded to the nearest dollar.
| Plan Tier | TV Channels | Jan 2026 Price | Feb 2026 Price | Total Monthly Change |
| Live a Little | 68 | $82 | $87 | +$5 |
| Entertainment (Legacy) | 73 | $93 | $99 | +$6 |
| Just Right | 88 | $105 | $113 | +$8 |
| Choice (Legacy) | 93 | $124 | $135 | +$11 |
| Go Big | 108 | $124 | $136 | +$12 |
| Gotta Have It | 128 | $134 | $146 | +$12 |
| Ultimate (Legacy) | 133 | $144 | $157 | +$13 |
The Reality of the "Double-Tap"
Legacy subscribers were largely hit with a $10 base increase in October 2025. This February 2026 hike is the second major jump in a four-month window. For users on tiers like Choice (Legacy) or higher, the increase is a combination of a base rate hike plus a $2 increase to the Regional Sports Fee.
This second wave has officially pushed several legacy plans past the price of modern equivalents. For example, Ultimate (Legacy) at $157 is now $11 more expensive than the current standard Ultimate plan ($146), despite the older plan having nearly 30 fewer channels. Similarly, the legendary Go Big plan is now $5 more per month than the current standard Choice tier.
For those using an outdoor antenna to supplement local sports and news for free, these legacy "deals" have largely become a price penalty for loyalty.
My Streaming Life begins with evaluating whether the convenience of an integrated channel guide is still worth the mounting "loyalty tax" on these aging plans. It looks to me like they aren't. That means it may be time for DirecTV legacy subscribers to move to a current plan, or consider moving to another service altogether.
